Why I called my business Into The Mirror Coaching & Training

One of the first things we learned when I trained as a coach, was to find someone’s life purpose and capture it in a sentence. The sentence included a metaphor to describe who you are, followed by the impact you (want to) have on the world. It all felt pretty big to me and not like something that I would just know.

The metaphor I came up with was a mirror. I figured that as a coach, I would help people see who they are in all their brilliance. I would help them reflect on what they saw and how they wanted to be seen. I would hold up an imaginary mirror by asking questions and telling them what I saw in them. I would essentially be their mirror.

So when I registered my business and had to come up with a name, I chose Into The Mirror, because of the mirror metaphor and because I wanted some sort of journey or movement. Coaching with me isn’t just like looking in a mirror. To me, it feels like an adventure. We journey into the mirror to see what’s behind it, to explore, to dive a little deeper.

Over the years, the one thing that clients have said to me the most is how much they value the mirror I hold up for them. It helps them see both their obstacles and their brilliance. It helps them reflect on what’s here and what’s important. It helps them see and be seen. Working with me means journeying into the mirror so you can see and be who you truly are.
